San Martin was the first building that the JHC bought, in 1996, when it began to develop social housing in the Johannesburg inner city.
San Martin was chosen because it was a well-maintained building, home to a stable community, and had an excellent property management system in place under Charles Gcwabaza. Like all of the JHC’s buildings, San Martin still today stands out as a well-maintained and well-managed building in high density Joubert Park.
