Carr Gardens was JHC's second townhouse development, and its first project in the Forsburg area.
It was built on land owned by the Gauteng Provincial Government, which was previously a squatter camp. This development incorporated a historical monument, a 1922 police station, into its design. The entire complex is face brick and included fully carpeted units with larger bedrooms, quality and attractive electrical switches, and individual meters for water and electricity. This was also the first new build to include front balconies. A further innovation was the Geza bathroom system, a South African designed modular hot water geyser incorporated into a single unit together with the toilet and basin. The system substantially reduced the time of installing plumbing into the bathroom and allowed for more efficient use of space. A smaller bathroom allowed for larger living areas and bedrooms. Carr Gardens is home to JHC's second crèche which is situated in the old police station.
